Tell HerStory – a celebration of women artists
Trace Nichols is a 2021/2022 Artist Fellow with The Aspen Art Museum in Aspen, Colorado. Her project targets the topic of women in the arts, highlighting the contributions women have made to its various fields. Working with collage and mixed-media, Nichols produced a large triptych that represents the outstanding women in each artistic field where their influence on the medium/movement has often been overlooked or suppressed by their male counterparts. The “landscape” is composed of torn pages from traditional art history books, deconstructing the male dominated past, making way for a more equitable story of art to spring forth.
