Great Ideas of Bauhaus – Opening reception with the artists, Wednesday, June 5, 5-7pm.

Red Brick Center for the Arts is excited to join the Roaring Fork Valley in the international celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus. In 2019, numerous local organizations will collaborate on events to commemorate this modernist art school, honor its impact on Aspen and reignite the creative power that began a century ago

The Great Ideas of Bauhaus is an exhibition of posters made by artists working in the printmaking medium. The format of the exhibit takes its inspiration from the Great Ideas of Western Man, an advertising campaign for Walter Paepcke’s Container Corporation, in which artists created an ad representing a quote from famous literary works.

To reexamine the idea of the Bauhaus in a format that pays tribute to Paepcke’s vision, the Red Brick Center for the Arts invited artists to select a quote that exemplifies Bauhaus theories and beliefs and create a visual representation of the ideas.

Come join for music by Wade Waters, food by Chef Daniel and festive drinks. Exhibition sponsor, Theatre Aspen will be present a performance by their show choir, Aspen Miner Keys.
