Anderson Ranch Studio Immersive

Check out the January Studio Immersive at Anderson Ranch… I’ll be there!

The Anderson Ranch’s Studio Immersive is a three-week program offered in January. It is designed as an interdisciplinary opportunity to offer participants access to all of the Ranch’s artistic staff, the state-of-the art studios and facilities, as well as critical dialog with visiting critics. Participants will be encouraged to diversify their practice and explore the broad array of mediums including painting/drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, woodworking/furniture design, film and digital photography and new media. Visiting critics will be present to provide critical and professional advice to every participant.

Today, the lines between artistic mediums are often blurred—painters undertake installation projects and sculptors may incorporate prints into their three-dimensional pieces. The studio immersive is designed to make the barriers between studios more permeable and facilitate the aesthetic dialog between mediums in a work of art. While at the Ranch, all artists will share in an established community of interaction, conceptual and professional development and intense production of work.

During the course of the immersive, half-day workshops will be included in every media in the various studios. Subsequent to each demonstration, participating artists will have access to that studio and instructional support on a scheduled basis. This unique program gives artists the opportunity to have a “home” studio in their primary medium while granting access to other studios to explore new methods—all in an environment that fosters exchange and critical discourse. — Anderson Ranch
